Boil water notice in effect for some parts of Caroline
Some businesses are without water and a boil water notice is in effect in certain parts of the Ladysmith area in Caroline County.
According to a release by Assistant County Administrator Alan Partin, a contractor inadvertently struck the county’s 12-inch water main around 9:45 a.m. while installing underground utilities along Ladysmith Road
near Center Drive.
It caused a large break in the line and resulted in low water pressure throughout the distribution system in the Ladysmith area, Partin said.
The break was isolated within 45 minutes of the event and normal pressure was restored in the water main about 20 minutes later, Partin said.
Businesses along and adjacent to Center Drive were without water for about three hours before service was restored and retained limited water pressure while repairs were going on, he said.
However, the Shops at Ladysmith, Giuseppe’s restaurant and Wright’s Chapel United Methodist Church will remain without water until the water main has been completely repaired, he said.
Caroline County Department of Public Utilities employees hand delivered the notices yesterday to customers affected.
“We regret the inconvenience caused by the interruption in service,” Partin said.
