1 dead, 1 injured in Orange crash
An accident at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday in Orange County left a Stanardsville man dead and a Ruckersville man injured, state police said.
The accident took place on Route 33 one tenth of a mile east of Route 664, or Buzzard Hollow Road, in Orange County, said Sgt. Les Tyler, spokesman for the state police.
Aaron Jackson Strickland, 34, was driving a 1994 Ford van traveling eastbound when he crossed into the center lane and struck Vincent Lee Garrison, 25, who was driving a 2006 Ford F-150 pickup truck, Tyler said.
Strickland died at the scene as a result of injuries from the crash. Garrison was taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center.
Tyler said the cause of the crash and chain of events are under investigation by the state police. The road was closed for two hours after the accident.
