Spotsy man surrenders after chase, barricade situation
Charges are pending against a Spotsylvania County man who led police on a pursuit and then barricaded himself inside of a house, police said.
Spotsylvania deputies responded to an area along Orange Plank Road near Austin Ridge Road Tuesday afternoon, said Capt. Jeff Pearce of the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office.
Pearce said that a woman reported to police that a man she knows abducted her and threatened to kill her the night before.
She was able to escape Tuesday afternoon and call police, he said.
Deputies spotted the man driving a car a few hours later and attempted to stop him based on outstanding warrants, Pearce said.
The car sped off, with the driver leading police on a short chase before the man jumped out of the car and barricaded himself inside his home, Pearce said.
Crisis negotiators and an emergency response team responded to the scene near the Orange County line, where the man surrendered a few minutes later, Pearce said.
Troy Coffey, 30, of Spotsylvania will face several charges, including felony eluding, Pearce said.
The female victim was unharmed, he said.
