Blazes demolition begins at Falmouth intersection
The next round of demolition at the Falmouth intersection began this morning.
Crews began tearing down the former Blazes building at the southwest corner of the intersection at U.S. 1, U.S. 17 and Butler Road in Stafford County.
After crews are finished tearing down that building and other structures at the intersection, there will still be four structures left to be demolished. Work also will soon begin on utility relocation.
The $25-million project will add eight through and turn lanes, which are expected to help with the congestion at the intersection, long known as one of the worst in the Fredericksburg area.
Actual construction on the road is expected to start in early 2014 and be finished in 2015.
