Three arrested in city purse snatching

A Woodbridge trio’s Super Bowl fun ended before it started Sunday after one of them was arrested for snatching a purse, police said.
The incident occurred about 6:50 p.m. outside the Target in Central Park, Fredericksburg police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe said.
A 59-year-old Spotsylvania woman was loading her purchases into her trunk when a man grabbed her purse out of her shopping cart and ran.
The woman chased the man across the parking lot until he got into the back of a silver car that sped away from the scene. The victim immediately called police and described the fleeing vehicle.
Bledsoe said Officer Nick Wagner was in the area and saw a vehicle being driven at a high rate of speed in the shopping center with no lights on. He stopped the car on Central Park Boulevard and saw a purse behind the driver’s seat.
The purse was returned to the victim with all of its contents intact.
Cody Lillard, 22, was charged with grand larceny, conspiracy to commit grand larceny and possession of marijuana. Lillard had marijuana in his pocket when he was arrested, police said.
His girlfriend, Raven Heard, 19, and the driver, Tabitha Compton, 21, were both charged with conspiracy to commit grand larceny.
Compton was released on a personal recognizance bond. Heard was jailed under a $1,000 bond. Lillard was placed in the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.
One of the suspects told police they were planning to go to a sports bar in Central Park to watch the Super Bowl after making a stop at Target.
