Overturned truck blocks I–95 exit
An overturned tractor–trailer shut down the northbound Interstate 95 exit ramp to westbound State Route 3 in Fredericksburg Thursday, leading to traffic delays and a reckless driving charge for a North Carolina man.
The rig ran off the ramp, hit the guardrail and overturned around 10:30 a.m., said Virginia State Police Sgt. Les Tyler. The ramp was closed until about 12:15 p.m.
Tyler said speed was a factor and the driver, 52-year-old Griffin Stanton Curtis, faces a reckless driving charge. Curtis refused medical treatment at the scene, according to Fredericksburg Deputy Fire Chief Mike Jones.
The trailer was a refrigerated unit carrying flower bulbs, but Jones said no Freon leaked. Diesel fuel that spilled was cleaned up by hazardous materials workers, he said.
