Two men were shot late Tuesday after a group of men wearing hooded sweatshirts broke into a North Stafford apartment and ransacked it, police said.
The incident started just before 11 p.m. at a home at 3927 Jefferson Davis Highway, Sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy said. The two victims were shot multiple times in their legs, but did not suffer life-threatening injuries, Kennedy said.
According to Kennedy, a woman told police that she was sitting on the living room couch when someone kicked in the door and three to five men came in. The men began yelling and screaming, and the woman ran to another room in an attempt to get away from them. It was not immediately clear where the male victims were when the incident started.
An armed suspect followed the woman and held a gun at her back when his accomplices ransacked that room. The gunman then left the room, and the woman reported hearing multiple gunshots.
Kennedy said the woman was terrified and didn’t move until she heard one of the shooting victims yelling for her to call the police and an ambulance. Deputies found the two victims on the floor and the apartment in total disarray, Kennedy said. It did not appear that anything was taken.
The victims were taken to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries. The woman was not physically injured.
The intruders were described only as black males between 5 feet 9 inches and six feet tall. All were wearing hooded sweatshirts, one gray and the rest black. All of their faces were covered.
