Woman charged after Culpeper standoff
A Rixeyville woman was taken into custody by Culpeper County sheriff’s deputies after a brief standoff that included a gun being fired from inside a residence while officers were outside.
The incident occurred Thursday on Fox Glade Lane in Rixeyville.
A woman called authorities and said there was another woman in the house with a revolver who had threatened to harm herself, a news release from the sheriff’s office said.
Deputies were able to get the caller and a juvenile out of the house. After about 15 minutes, a window opened and a single shot was fired from within the home, the news release said. Deputies outside did not return fire.
A short time, later the occupant of the home was taken into custody.
Eight deputies and Sheriff Scott Jenkins responded to the scene.
“I’m pleased that no one was hurt, and I’m very proud of the teamwork and professionalism displayed by all of the deputies today,” Jenkins said.
Nicole C. Mallory, 28, of Rixeyville, is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and reckless handling of a firearm.
She is being held in the Culpeper County Jail on no bond.
