Roads may freeze overnight, warns VDOT
The Virginia Department of Transportation warned motorists Thursday to proceed with caution, especially on secondary roads where some areas of snow or ice may remain.
Overnight temperatures are forecasted to drop to 13 degrees and remain below freezing. According to a release, VDOT crews will remain on duty tonight to monitor and treat roads in the Fredericksburg area for dangerous, icy conditions.
VDOT is also restocking sand and salt in preparation for the additional two to four inches of snow expected to fall Friday. Crews are expected to remain mobilized Friday morning in advance of inclement weather.
Motorists can call 511, visit www.511Virginia.org, or use VDOT’s 511Virginia free mobile app to find real-time road conditions in any area of the state.
