Sawed-off shotgun leads to arrest in Orange
A Louisa man faces multiple charges after being accused of leaving a sawed-off shotgun at a Rhoadesville residence.
Responding to a report of suspicious activity on Lafayette Drive Sunday, Orange County Sheriff’s deputies were given a sawed off shotgun by a homeowner who had found it.
After investigating, the deputies were able to determine that someone had stolen the weapon from another Lafayette Drive residence, sawed off the barrel and left it at the address where deputies were called.
Jonathan Cody Short, 18, was charged with two counts of breaking and entering, two counts of grand larceny, one count of destruction of property, two counts of grand larceny of firearms and one count of possession of a sawed-off shotgun. More charges are pending, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
Short is currently being held at the Central Virginia Regional Jail without bond.
