Woman charged with assault on a police officer
A Spotsylvania County woman is charged with assaulting a police officer in Prince William County.
According to Jonathan Perok of the Prince William County Police Department, the woman was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol following a crash along the 17100 block of Dumfries Road in Dumfries.
While being processed at the Garfield Police Station, Perok said the woman actively resisted and pushed the arresting officer.
The officer was able to secure the woman and there were no injuries reported, Perok said.
Kelly Henson Hood, 30, of MacNamara Drive in Spotsylvania, is charged with assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, driving under the influence, obstruction of justice and unreasonable refusal.
She is being held without bond at the Prince William-Manassas Regional Adult Detention Center.
A court date is scheduled for Feb. 8.
