Man gets 10 years for sex offense against girl, 11
BY KEITH EPPS
A Woodford man was ordered Thursday to serve 10 years in prison for sexually molesting a Fredericksburg girl last year.
Jonathan Rodriguez–Arzuaga, 20, pleaded guilty to sodomy and abduction in Fredericksburg Circuit Court. As part of a plea agreement, a rape charge was dropped.
Rodriguez–Arzuaga was sentenced to a total of 50 years in prison with all but 10 suspended.
The attack took place May 10 at a home in the Mayfield area.
Rodriguez–Arzuaga was staying at the home and attacked the 11-year-old child that night while her mother was sleeping.
The child told her mother about the attack the next day and was taken to Mary Washington Hospital. Evidence recovered there showed that the child had been sexually assaulted, and warrants were obtained for Rodriguez–Arzuaga’s arrest.
He had fled by then, but was finally taken into custody on May 19 when he turned himself in at Fredericksburg police headquarters. Police had gotten information about his whereabouts from people in the Caroline area.
Rodriguez–Arzuaga has been in the Rappahannock Regional Jail since his arrest.
