Keys left in door leads to car theft

A Stafford County woman’s new car was stolen after police say she accidentally left her keys in the front door of her home.

Stafford Sheriff’s Office spokesman Bill Kennedy said a woman was carrying items inside her residence on Spruce Lane in England Run North off U.S. 17 around 2:30 p.m. on Thursday.

The woman said she left her keys unattended for just a few minutes, he said, and when she looked out the window her 2013 black Nissan Altima was gone.

Kennedy said she didn’t give anyone else permission to drive her car.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the car is asked to call the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office at 540/658-4400.
