Woman dies in Spotsylvania crash
BY LINDLEY ESTES
A 35-year-old Spotsylvania County woman died at the scene of a single-car accident after she lost control of her vehicle Thursday morning, state police said.
Teresa Dawn Sullivan was driving an Oldsmobile south on U.S. 1 in Spotsylvania near South Roxbury Road when she lost control of the vehicle, police said. The vehicle crossed over the northbound lane, then ran off the road before striking a culvert and an embankment, police said.
State police responded to the crash along with Spotsylvania sheriff’s deputies and fire and rescue units, Sgt. F.L. Tyler said. Sullivan was not wearing a seat belt, he said.
State police are investigating whether highway conditions may have contributed to the crash. There were reports of ice patches early in the day. Trooper J.M. Fletcher is investigating.
