Spotsy Fires Destroy Home, Garage Last Night

A house fire at 107oo block of Lovett Drive in Spotsylvania destroyed a home overnight, said fire officials from the county.

Four Spotsylvania fire stations responded to the 911 call, which came in at 4:13 a.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Spotsylvania Fire Chief Chris Eudailey said determining the cause will take longer than normal because of the extent of the fire damage. The fire marshal was on the scene Thursday afternoon going through debris and conducting interviews.

The homeowners were not in the home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

The Red Cross has offered to help the family.

Another fire was reported in Spotsylvania last night on the 3400 block of Massaponax Road.

Four stations responded to the 911 call, which a neighbor phoned in at 6:17 p.m.

The fire started in a detached garage and spread to a nearby field, creating a large brush fire.

No other structures were damaged.

The fire marshal is also still investigating the cause of this fire.
