What’s the big deal about Black Friday?
What drives people to shop for Black Friday deals?
Just ask Garry and Lisa Shaw of Stafford County.
The couple is rebuilding a foreclosed home that they’ve purchased, and need to replace the appliances. After researching the ads in today’s newspaper, they decided that the h.h. gregg store in Central Park had the best prices for what they wanted.
“We’ll probably save $2,500,” Lisa Shaw said.
The couple was among a handful of people waiting in line in front of the store at 6 o’clock tonight. Once it opens at 10 p.m. and they make their purchases, they plan to hit the Kohl’s in Central Park and the Belk and Macy’s stores in Spotsylvania Towne Centre. All three stores open at midnight. The Shaws will probably pick up some less expensive items at Walmart as well.
Lisa Shaw said she’s been shopping for Black Friday deals for about 10 to 15 years, but this was the first time for her husband.
“I’ve always avoided Black Friday,” he said. “I might just become a fan.”
