Lines are forming for stores opening at midnight
Traffic had started to pick up and parking spaces are filling at area shopping centers by 9 p.m. Thanksgiving Day.
Shoppers waiting to get into Spotsylvania Towne Centre at midnight had formed a line from Sephora to The Green Turtle Sports Bar and Grille. Meanwhile Sears, which opened early, was bustling with shoppers.
Over at Central Park, the line to get into Best Buy stretched from the tents pitched near the entrance by early bird shoppers to beyond NTB. There was about an hour wait at Toys ‘R’ Us, where the line was moved this year to the left side of the building. Shoppers were being let in every five minutes, and an employee who didn’t want to be identified said the crowd was about the same size as last year.
Several dozen people had lined up in front of both Kohl’s and Old Navy, and there were a handful sitting next to Sports Authority.
