Heating problem closes Locust Grove schools
Locust Grove Elementary and Locust Grove Middle schools were closed Friday due to a failure in the joint facility’s heating system.
A high-pressure regulator on the building’s LP gas system failed late Thursday afternoon, school officials said. The heating system was shut down, and a replacement part was ordered.
No danger was foreseen from the failure, but because the forecast called for low temperatures and no alternative heating source for the school building, officials decided to close the schools for one day.
All other county schools remained open.
Repairs at the Locust Grove schools are expected to be completed by Friday evening and they are expected to reopen Monday morning.
