Culpeper bus driver dies
By DONNIE JOHNSTON
A 70-year-old Culpeper County school bus driver died of an apparent heart attack Friday morning while making his morning run.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, none of the seven Eastern View High School students was injured when the driver collapsed at the wheel about 6:52 a.m. and his bus veered across Kirtley Trail and ran into a ditch on the left side of the secondary road.
Friday afternoon, police identified the driver as Jerry W. Heddings of Reva.
He had been driving for Culpeper County schools for five years, according to school system spokesperson Pearl Jamison.
