Ham elected mayor in Colonial Beach

Current Councilman Mike Ham received 828 votes to win the mayor’s race in Colonial Beach.

Former Councilman Steve Kennedy and current Councilman Burkett Lyburn ran write-in races. Their individual totals will not be available until Wednesday, but only 348 total write-in votes were cast.

For Town Council, incumbents Tommy Edwards (738 votes) and Tim Curtin (678) and challenger Wanda Goforth (621) all won four-year terms. Jim Chiarello, who was appointed to fill a vacancy earlier this year, received 811 votes to win a two-year term for that seat.

Two School Board seats were on the ballot, but no one qualified to be on the ballot. Chairman Tim Trivett and board member Michelle Payne ran write-in campaigns for re-election. Write-in votes will be tallied Wednesday.
