Logging truck driver charged
Timothy Wayne Fetty, 39, of Henrico was charged today with failure to maintain control of a vehicle and failure to properly maintain brakes after the logging truck he was driving overturned in Spotsylvania Wednesday.
The truck, which Fetty drove for Gilman Trucking in Ashland, Va., overturned at 8:15 a.m. in Spotsylvania in the area of Hams Ford Road and Marye Road when the driver drove too fast around a curve and the weight of the truck pulled the vehicle down, said Capt. Mike Harvey, spokesman for the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office.
There were no other vehicles involved.
Fetty was taken to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries. He was treated in the emergency room and released Wednesday.
The roadway was closed for an extended period of time Wednesday for investigation and since some of the logs spilled off of the truck. It was reopened that afternoon.
