Colonial Beach and Westmoreland without power
Colonial Beach residents are in the dark Monday night as Sandy moves into the area and the impact of the storm is felt more.
As of about 8 p.m., 3, 421 Dominion Virginia Power customers and 1,006 Northern Neck Electric Cooperative customers were without power in Westmoreland County.
The wind has picked up in Colonial Beach and the rain is steady. Temperatures have dropped below 50 degrees but the wind is making it feel colder.
The two shelters in the area-one at Washington and Lee High School and one at Colonial Beach High School are still open.
