Man hurt in dirt-bike accident

A 22-year-old man was critically injured Saturday afternoon following a dirt bike accident in Chesterfield Estates just northwest of Culpeper.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was reportedly attempting a triple jump on a homemade motor-cross course when he lost control and was thrown from his bike, which then landed on him.

Paramedics at the scene treated the biker for a collapsed lung and other internal injuries before airlifting him to the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
