A Richardsville mother has been charged with buying alcohol for her teenage son prior to Eastern View High School’s homecoming dance and then allowing him and three of his friends to drink and smoke marijuana in her presence.
Diana L. Walker, 47, is charged with four counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and one count of purchasing alcohol for an unauthorized person.
Three other 18-year-olds, Alvin A. Chura Jr., Kenneth H. Olenslager and John H. McDevitt V, have also been charged with three counts each of contributing to the delinquency of a minor in connection with the Oct. 6 incident.
According to Corey Byers of the Culpeper County Sheriff’s Office, Walker allegedly picked up the three underage teenagers, including her son, at Eastern View. The other two had told their parents they were going to the dance but never actually went inside.
Authorities allege Walker took them to McDevitt’s home on East Piedmont Street, where they drank and smoked pot.
Later, according to Byers, Walker took the underage teens to her Richardsville home, where a fourth underage teen, who had attended the dance, joined the other three in smoking and drinking.
Walker was charged and released on a $5,000 secured bond.
McDevitt and Chura were each released on a $1,000 secured bond, while Olenslager was released on a $2,500 unsecured bond.
