Couple charged with beating man
BY KEITH EPPS
A Stafford County man and his live-in girlfriend were arrested early Wednesday after being accused of robbing and beating a man who was walking with them from a bar.
The 23-year-old victim was lying on the ground bleeding and with his left eye shut when deputies found him outside the McDonald’s at 190 Garrisonville Road about 12:15 a.m.
Sheriff’s Maj. David Decatur said the man was rushed to a local hospital to be treated for a broken jaw, facial fractures and a knee injury.
According to Decatur, the victim and his alleged assailants had been at Buffalo Mo’s in North Stafford earlier in the evening. All three had been drinking.
The victim told police that the three had left the nightspot and were walking behind the Staffordboro commuter lot when the other man suggested taking a shortcut.
Decatur said he wasn’t sure why the three were together, but said they do live in the same general area.
They were on a trail that leads to Sunningdale Meadows when, the victim said, he was punched in the face and knocked to the ground by the man.
The victim said he was kicked and punched repeatedly, mostly in the head area. The man got in most of the blows, Decatur said, but his girlfriend took a few shots as well.
The assailants then took the victim’s money and left.
The victim didn’t know his attackers’ names, but he knew where they lived and he knew the man’s nickname and where the woman works.
Deputies went to a home on Westminster Lane and arrested Albert William Ware, 22, and Brittany Anne Schulze, 21.
They were charged with robbery, malicious wounding by mob and two counts of conspiracy.
Both were placed in the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
