Fredericksburg police prepare for Ryan visit

UPDATE: This event has been moved to the Fredericksburg Expo Center, which is also in Celebrate Virginia South, according to the campaign and the Fredericksburg Police Department.

The Fredericksburg Police Department is preparing for  vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan’s visit to Fredericksburg Tuesday.

There will be extra patrol officers on hand for traffic control and security as needed, but no planned road closures, said police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe.

The free event will be held at the Celebrate Virginia Live concert venue in Celebrate Virginia South.

Doors open at 4 p.m. and the event will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Country music singer Collin Raye will be Ryan’s special guest.

Bledsoe said they are not expecting this event to have any greater impact to the area than the concerts which were held at the same venue.
