Man hit, killed while walking across Interstate 95 on Friday
A 20-year-old died after being hit by a car on Interstate 95 on Friday night.
Jaymes V. Hedderman, of Locust Grove, was trying to walk across the northbound lanes of the interstate at about 9:50 p.m., according to the Virginia State Police.
He was struck by a 2009 Dodge Avenger driving north in the right lane at mile 128, between the Massaponax and Fredericksburg exits.
Hedderman died at the scene at about 10:20 p.m., police said.
The case is still under investigation. No one has been charged.
This is the 73rd pedestrian killed by a vehicle in the state this year. It’s the 596th fatality, police said.
