Culpeper murder case continued
BY DONNIE JOHNSTON
One of the defendants charged in a bizarre October 2011 slaying had his case continued until Jan. 17 while he undergoes a mental evaluation.
Roger Davis, 44, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Patricia Adams, his ex-wife. He is also charged with entering a dwelling with intent to commit murder, use of a firearm in a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and malicious shooting.
He is currently in a rehabilitation center recovering from a gunshot wound he suffered during the incident.
Police said Davis and 50-year-old Gary Willie, Adams’ former boyfriend, went together to the woman’s house on Oct. 8 of last year. Willie is accused of shooting Adams in the head, then trying to shoot a friend of Adams.
That shot missed and hit Davis in the chest instead.
Willie then twice tried to commit suicide by shooting himself in the head, according to the commonwealth’s attorney’s office.
Willie was declared incompetent to stand trial in July.
Davis was charged because prosecutors say he was part of the plot.
