VRE train hits, kills pedestrian

(AP) A person died after being struck by a Virginia Railway Express train in the Fairfax Station area Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Manassas train 325 was stopped on the tracks between Burke Centre and Manassas Park as authorities investigated the fatality, and several Manassas line trains were canceled.

(VRE said Fredericksburg trains were running on time.)

Buses were being sent to pick up the stranded passengers.

Manassas trains 331 and 335 are cancelled and trains 327, 329, 333 and 337 will stop in Burke,where buses will take riders to their final destination, VRE officials said.
