Illegal fireworks spark scare in Fredericksburg

Illegal fireworks, designed to look like a bomb, were found at a motel on Jefferson Davis HIghway in Fredericksburg, fire officials said Thursday.

The suspicious device was found at the Dunning Mills Inn at 2305 Jeferson Davis Highway.

A bomb squad from the Virginia State Police was called, determined that it was fireworks and is working with the city’s fire marshal to determine who placed the device, according to Mike Jones, deputy fire chief in the city.
