A 17-year-old female from Stafford County has been charged with reckless driving in connection to a fatal crash in Prince William County that killed a Fredericksburg man.
Qasim R. Alaway, 51, of Fredericlsburg died after a five-vehicle crash in Prince William County late Saturday.
According to Officer Jonathan Perok of the Prince William County Police Department, police went to the area of Dumfries Road and Talon Drive in Dumfries around 11:05 p.m. for a crash.
The investigation revealed that the 17-year-old driver of a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta was traveling south on Dumfries Road when the vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic on northbound Dumfries Road, Perok said.
Once in the northbound lanes, Perok said, the vehicle struck four others, one of which was a 2000 Mercury Marquis drivin by Alaway.
Alaway had serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital, where he died Sunday morning. He was the only occupant of the vehicle.
The court date for the teen driver was unknown as of Wednesday afternoon, Perok said,
No other injuries were reported and the crash is under investigation, he said.
