Spotsylvania man charged with stabbing wife
By KEITH EPPS
A Spotsylvania man was arrested after he ended an ongoing domestic dispute by stabbing his wife early Monday at their home, police said.
First Sgt. James Konicki said police and rescue workers went to the 14800 block of Antler Road about 3:17 a.m. after getting a 911 call from 47-year-old Dawn Hacker. Deputies found Hacker bleeding profusely from a stab wound to the upper right side of her chest.
Konicki said the victim reported that her husband stabbed her after a verbal altercation turned physical. After receiving emergency treatment at the scene, the victim was flown to Mary Washington Hospital to be treated for a collapsed lung.
Her husband, 43-year-old Jerry Hacker, was found at the end of the driveway and immediately taken into custody. He was charged with malicious wounding and placed in the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.Detective Leonard Short took over the investigation and determined that the couple had been arguing for several days. Konicki said he wasn’t sure what the argument was about, but said alcohol played a factor in the incident.
