City man beaten and stabbed Sunday night
By KEITH EPPS
Three men, including two brothers, have been charged in connection with a Sunday night incident in Fredericksburg that left a 34-year-old city resident in critical condition, police said.
Jose Maldonado, 28, Ismael Maldonado, 36, and Francisco Martinez, 36, who live together on Hickock Circle in the Central Park Townhomes (formerly known as Bragg Hill), are charged with malicious wounding by mob. All three are being held in the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.

City police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe said the incident occurred about 9:45 p.m. in the victim’s back yard on Roffman Road in the same neighborhood. The victim was stabbed multiple times during the attack and beaten with a pool stick, Bledsoe said.
Police don’t know which suspect used which weapon.
Police have not been able to speak with the victim, who is in critical condition in intensive care in Mary Washington Hospital. Among his injuries are two collapsed lungs.
Bledsoe said none of the people involved in or who witnessed the incident speaks English, and police aren’t sure what triggered it. But police have determined that there has been some sort of ongoing dispute between the two households, including one earlier Sunday involving the victim and at least one of the suspects.
Several people called 911 to report the incident, including the victim’s wife, who found her husband bleeding in the yard.
Bledsoe said police have received unconfirmed reports that there may have been other victims and assailants. The investigation is continuing.
