Woman injured in K.G. wreck

By KEITH EPPS
A Fredericksburg woman suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries Monday in a wreck that closed part of State Route 3 west in King George for about an hour, police said.
State police Sgt. Thomas Molnar said the accident occurred about 3:06 p.m. at the intersection of Route 3 and State Route 605. The driver of a 2012 Kenworth tractor-trailer was heading south on Route 605 when he ran a stop sign and was struck by a 2002 Buick sedan that was traveling west on Route 3.
Kristie Bennett, 26, the front-seat passenger in the Buick, was flown from the scene to be treated for serious injuries.
The driver, 24-year-old Amanda L. Minter of Montross, was transported by ambulance to be treated for minor injuries. Two girls under the age of 8 were in the back seat and were not injured, Molnar said.
Kelvin Corbett, 48, of Washington, the driver of the tractor-trailer, was charged with failure to yield the right-of-way. He was not injured.
Molnar said everyone involved in the accident was wearing proper restraint devices.
