Ladysmith rest area closing for work

The southbound Interstate 95 rest area in Caroline County at mile marker 108 will be closed several nights this week, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Work started today and will run through Thursday.

The closures will allow crews to mill and pave the shoulders and ramps to and from the rest area, which will be closed from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

A nearby alternative to the Caroline rest area is the Fredericksburg Welcome Center rest area at mile marker 131.
