Flood strands car

Update, 2:30 p.m.:

Chris Rogers, who works at Radley Auto Group on U.S. 1 in Spotsylvania County, said he took this photo around 1:30 or 1:35 p.m. Wednesday afternoon on his iPhone.

“I was out in that area, and water filled the ditch and the road,” he said. Rogers said he saw the car attempt to turn off of Lafayette Boulevard onto an access road in front of Pohanka Auto Group when the car seemingly went into a flooded ditch.

Rogers said he saw one female adult driver, and he didn’t see any other people inside the car. When he took the photo, he said people were starting to go over to aid the driver.

Because he works with cars, Rogers said he’s seen this kind of thing before.

“She might have some flood damage after that,” he said.

No one from the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office was available immediately to take calls.
