Teen faces child-porn charges
BY KEITH EPPS
A young Stafford County man was charged with six felony offenses after his former roommate accused him of leaving child pornography on the roommate’s cellphone, police said.
Brandon Wayne Gonzales, 18, is charged with five counts of reproducing child pornography and one count of possessing child pornography.
He was placed in the Rappahannock Regional Jail, and police said more charges are pending.
According to sheriff’s spokesman Bill Kennedy and court records, the former roommate reported the incident to the Sheriff’s Office on July 17.
He told police that about two weeks earlier, he loaned his phone to Gonzales so that Gonzales could access his Yahoo email account.
The man told police that when he later went to his own Yahoo email account, pictures of young naked girls engaged in sex acts popped up.
There was also a conversation between Gonzales and someone else about exchanging pictures of nude young girls.
According to an affidavit for a search warrant filed in Stafford Circuit Court by Detective Darryl Wells, this is at least the second time police have investigated Gonzales for child pornography.
An FBI investigation conducted in 2010 tied a computer on which child pornography had been downloaded to Gonzales.
Gonzales, who was 16 at the time, was placed in a 12-month program by his parents to help him deal with his addiction, the affidavit states.
Meanwhile, the FBI turned the case over to Wells, who last month began examining a laptop computer that Gonzales had been using recently.
