Drowning reported at Lake Anna

UPDATE: Police have identified the drowning victim as 36-year-old Michael Guesman.

Capt. Mike Harvey with the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that a male drowned in Lake nna late Saturday night near Sturgeon Creek Marina.

He didn’t have an age and said they are still trying to contact next of kin before releasing a name.

The captain said a call came in at about 11 p.m. from friends of the victim who said that about 45 minutes earlier he had “jumped off a boat to go swimming and they didn’t see him again.”

A boater found the victim’s body floating in the water just as rescue workers arrived, Harvey said.

We don’t have details, but a Spotsylvania rescue worker has confirmed that there was a drowning Saturday at Lake Anna, near Sturgeon Creek Marina.
