2.4 earthquake reported near Mineral

(AP) The U.S. Geological Survey is reporting a minor, magnitude 2.4 earthquake this morning near Mineral.

The quake shook the area about 12:40 a.m., according to the survey’s website. The quake could be the latest aftershock from the Aug. 23 magnitude 5.8 earthquake in that area.

In late January, a magnitude 3.2 aftershock was recorded south-southeast of Mineral, the Associated Press reported. The minor quakes could continue, seismologists said at the time.
