Three weekend robberies reported in Spotsylvania
BY KEITH EPPS
A convenience store, a pharmacy and a motel were the sites of robberies in Spotsylvania County over the weekend, police said.
Sheriff’s Capt. Mike Harvey said the first occurred about 3:30 a.m. Saturday at the 7-Eleven at 10501 Courthouse Road. Two men dressed in dark clothing and hooded sweatshirts entered the store and pointed guns at the clerk, demanding that she open the cash drawers.
The clerk complied before being pushed to the floor. The robbers left with cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of cash. The clerk, who was not physically injured, was unable to determine the race of the suspects.
At 7:55 p.m. the same day, the Walgreens Pharmacy at 5650 Plank Road was robbed by three men. Harvey said the men approached the pharmacy counter and one of them handed the clerk a note demanding prescription narcotics. The clerk complied and the men left with an undisclosed amount of drugs.
They were described as white males in their early 20s, of medium heights and builds. No weapon was displayed and the pharmacist was not injured.
On Sunday about 3:40 a.m., a 20-year-old woman was robbed at the Econolodge at 5321 Jefferson Davis Highway. Harvey said that after the woman answered a knock on her door, several males pushed her into the room while using a hand-held taser on her stomach.
The woman was held down on the bed while the suspects plundered through the room. They got an undisclosed amount of cash and electronics before leaving.
The victim was checked at the scene by rescue personnel but denied having any serious injury.
