Employment fair aimed at veterans
Linking veterans and their spouses with job-hunting help is the topic of a session here next month.
The free Veterans Employment Resource Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 21 at the University of Mary Washington Stafford Campus, 125 University Boulevard.
Bill Janus, deputy commissioner of the Virginia Department of Veteran Services, will be keynote speaker. Rep. Rob Wittman will also speak.
Employment professionals and employers will be on hand, and several other services will be offered. Those include on-the-spot veteran ID cards through DMV’s mobile customer service, résumé writing workshops, one-one-one résumé critiques and mock interviews.
The McGuire VA Medical Center will have its mobile health care unit there, and wounded warrior Mike Dailey’s drag racer will be on display.
The session is hosted by Rappahannock Goodwill Industries, the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Virginia Wounded Warrior Program.
