Preregistration slated for dressing days

The Interfaith Community Council is holding preregistration to help streamline its annual School Dressing Days in August and is looking for volunteers to help with the event.
The remaining preregistration days are Saturday from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until noon. Both sessions will be at the Bragg Hill Family Life Center in Fredericksburg.
Those who sign up will need to verify a current residence in Fredericksburg, Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania or Stafford. Verification can be a driver’s license, DMV identification card, lease, utility bill or letter from a social services department.
Verification for the child to receive items at Dressing Days is also required. This can be a birth certificate, Social Security card, passport, DMV identification card, report card or Medicaid card.
After signing up, participants will receive a time slot to shop on Aug. 10 or 11 and be assigned a confirmation number.
During the August event, children in need are given a new pair of jeans, a new shirt, underwear, socks, shoes and school supplies.
To supply children with these items, the organizers accept clothing just before the event since they do not have the facilities to store additional items. The group can accept cash donations at any time.
The event is also in need of volunteers to aid in preregistering, and to help at the event in August. Volunteers who speak Spanish are particularly needed.
