Dozens of people were lined up at least an hour early for tickets to see First Lady Michelle Obama at the University of Mary Wasington. (Details / Logistics information.)

The event is Friday at 6 p.m., but tickets were handed out beginning at 11 a.m. today in Central Park and Culpeper.

At midday, a long line remained – wrapped all the way around the building, but was moving smoothly. Each person is allowed to pick up two tickets.

Jean Williams of Spotsylvania County got in line at about 8:30 and was one of the first, and she was sporting a shirt with the face of the president.

“I’m here because I haven’t seen her personally,” she said. “She’s the top of the list of first ladies,” she said.

Andrella Hall of Stafford County was also in line early with her two children, who are 11 and 14.

“This is the first opportunity for the children to see her speak. I have and it was an awesome experience,” she said.

She said she likes the first lady’s charisma and her positive traits.
