Fredericksburg region under heat advisory

The Fredericksburg region remains under a heat advisory from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Wednesday.

The National Weather Service expects a high temperature of about 100 degrees with a heat index of about 105 and reminds residents never to leave small children or animals alone in cars during this kind of heat.

Other tips: Check on elderly neighbors and relatives, drink plenty of water, wear lightweight clothing and stay out of the sun as much as possible; and remember that heat stroke is a medical emergency – call 911.
