Michelle Obama to visit Fredericksburg on Friday

Update: @ChelyenDavis reports on Twitter that the Fredericksburg event will take place at 6 p.m.

The Obama campaign says First Lady Michelle Obama will hold a “grassroots event” in Fredericksburg this Friday.

“We are aware of the campaign’s intention for Ms. Obama to come to the Fredericksburg area on Friday,” said Fredericksburg Police spokesperson Natatia Bledsoe.

She said Fredericksburg Police officials have met with other local law enforcement jurisdictions, as well as officials from the University of Mary Washington, and the Secret Service to discuss the visit.

However, no time or location had been confirmed as of this afternoon.

It will be the first lady’s second visit to the Fredericksburg region. The first lady also visited Caroline County as part of a clinic opening in 2009. (See the story, video and pictures.)
