Three more doctors depart Kil practice

Three more physicians have departed Dr. Joon Kil’s medical practice, bringing to five the number who have left in recent months.

Drs. Zeenat Patel, Hector Colon and Leedylyn Stadulis this week ran advertisements announcing the opening of a new OB/GYN practice in Fredericksburg. A spokesman for the group last week declined to talk about the new practice.

The three physicians worked with Kil at Central Virginia OB/GYN in Fredericksburg. They join Dr. Cynthia Wilkes and Dr. Barbara Mercado as recent departures from Central Virginia.

Mercado opened a solo practice, Generations of Women, in Fredericksburg. Wilkes works now with Dr. Tammy Leonard at Fredericksburg Womens Health Associates.

With eight physicians and three offices, Kil’s Central Virginia OB/GYN was one of the region’s largest medical practices. Its doctors delivered more  than 1,000 babies a  year.

Today, the practice is considerably smaller, with Kil and two other physicians working from the main office near Mary Washington Hospital and at a satellite office near the Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center.

A realty sign outside Kil’s main office on Care Way says that the building is available. The agent handling the property last week referred all questions to Kil, who could not be reached for comment.

Kil has been  president and majority  shareholder of Central  Virginia since its founding. He is a  resident of McLean and  has worked in the  Fredericksburg area for  more than 23 years.

Kil recently faced two lawsuits filed by former employees. Mercado and Bobbi Clarke, the former office manager at Central Virginia, filed separate actions, accusing him of fraud.  Kil denied the allegations. He settled one of the suits last year and the other suit earlier this year.
