Daylong benefit set for injured firefighter

A fundraiser for Spotsylvania County firefighter Chris Pitts, who was injured while responding to a house fire near Lake Anna on Friday night, will be held at Legends Sports Grille in the Cosner’s Corner shopping center.

The restaurant at 9969 Jefferson Davis Highway will donate 10 percent of its proceeds to Pitts and his family on Sunday, July 8, from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m., according to a posting on the Spotsylvania Volunteer Fire Department’s website.

Pitts, a career firefighter, was injured during a house fire in Valentine Woods following the severe storm Friday night. He suffered third-degree burns after part of a roof collapsed, trapping him.

Pitts was discharged from VCU Medical Center on Tuesday.
