DEVELOPER YANKS PLAN IN CULPEPER
Developer Jim Epstein on Monday withdrew his request to rezone 125 acres at Clevenger’s Corner to allow him to build 275 residential units and 75,000 square feet of commercial space.
Epstein, who has courted individual supervisors since the Culpeper County Planning Commission failed to recommend approval of his proposal last spring, said in a letter to county planner John Egerston that he intended to file a new plan in six months.
Under current zoning, Epstein can build 100 houses and use 12 acres for commercial development.
Epstein’s rezoning request was supposed to be on tonight’s Board of Supervisors agenda, but has now been pulled.
A straw poll showed that Epstein did not have enough votes for rezoning.
