Line of thunderstorms tears through region
A line of strong thunderstorms passed through the region late last night, bringing lightning, strong winds, reports of hail, and widespread power outages.
Weather.com reported the line of storms moved through the Ohio River Valley and mid-Atlantic states, leaving downed trees and other storm damage, along with the power outages. Reports of tornados were being investigated.
At 11:15 p.m., Dominion Virginia Power reported more than 425,000 outages in the Northern Virginia Region, which includes the Fredericksburg area.
In Culpeper, there were widespread power outages, and storm debris lining the streets. Comments on fredericksburg.com’s Facebook page reported downed limbs and trees–including across roads, and on cars–and small flying debris. Some said children’s toys, planters, and lawn furniture were blown around their yards.
