Stafford woman dies in accident
A 91-year-old Stafford woman was killed in a car accident Friday in North Stafford.
According to Virginia State Police Sgt. F.L. Tyler, the accident happened around 3:10 p.m. at Eustace Road and Northampton Boulevard.
A 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe driven by a 17-year-old Stafford teen was heading north on Eustace when it stopped at the intersection’s four-way stop and then attempted to turn left onto Northampton, Tyler said. That’s when it collided with a southbound 2006 Scion xB driven by Deborah A. Powell of Biglerville, Pa., he said.
Powell, 63, and her daughter, Abigail P. Verdier, 22, were treated at Stafford Hospital, Tyler said. Powell’s mother, June Noble, was taken to Mary Washington Hospital, where she died, Tyler said.
The driver of the Hyundai and her two passengers were uninjured, he said. Everyone involved was wearing a seat belt.
No charges have been filed, but the accident remains under investigation, Tyler said.
